Room data sheets are organized overviews that outline the requirements for specific room types. They are typically created during the briefing phase (or their explanation architectural programming in US) of a design and help clarify the requirements of the client in each type of space. They can then be used to develop specifications that aid contractors and design teams to know what is expected of each space and how to make sure that the proposed solution meets the requirements of the client.
Architects as well as other members of design teams, including interior designers and engineers, create rooms data sheets. They are still in the process of being created and could remain an “living document” until the client has approved the final design of the architectural. The data on the room sheets of data can be linked to the Revit model using a process called backfilling. This method of verification helps to ensure that the room’s data accurately corresponds to the requirements of the final documents, and can be used to identify any inconsistencies.
The Room Data Sheets component in BriefBuilder allows you to quickly create room data sheets, and then use them to connect to the Revit model. It includes a set standard templates and pre-programmed picklists for the electrical, structural HVAC, plumbing and structural disciplines. It also allows the addition of thumbnail-sized illustrations and graphics for each discipline.
The component is easy to use and does not require any special configuration. It can load configurations that have been saved, which can reduce the time required to set up. It also allows properties like size, browser organization and the name to be specified for each view that is created.
