Families who are caring for loved ones with cognitive and physical special needs are faced with unique difficulties and obstacles every day. In September of 2005, Gordon Hartman established a non-profit organization to help local area agencies assist these families.
The Gordon Hartman Family Foundation supports the programs, projects and collaborative efforts of Bexar County area non-profit organizations that provide direct services for individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities, with a particular focus on serving children’s needs in this area.
The Foundation strives to transform lives through four primary objectives:
- Monetary Grants – Grant awards are distributed once per year to Bexar County area, Texas non-profit agencies that serve the special needs community. Agencies approved for funding are chosen by a selection committee, which reviews letters of inquiry and formal grant applications. Please refer to our Grants page for specific instructions on how to apply.
- Resource Directory – Through our Resource Directory, the Foundation provides a simple yet effective tool for finding current information on existing services available for a wide range of disabilities. We are committed to helping you find workable solutions to your needs, so please contact our office if you need further assistance.
- Events – The Foundation hosts a number of events for individuals with special needs and their families to attend throughout the year. These events are held at Morgan’s Wonderland where participants can enjoy refreshments, music and dancing free of charge.
- Sponsorships – The Foundation supports many events throughout the year to assist local non-profits that are involved with the special needs community in fundraising. Requests for sponsorships are reviewed outside the annual grant cycle and may be submitted anytime throughout the year for consideration.
